My life has been such a journey for only being eighteen years old. I feel that I have been through a bucket full of obstacles and I am still trying to figure out how I am still alive and well. But that's the beauty of it, you can fall as many times as you get pushed, but you can also stand back up right after. Its crazy to think of how much I have made it through, and the idea makes me smile. It's important to look at the brightest side of things, especially when things are tough. Every day is a learning experience, and I just wanted to touch light on the things that I have recently learned.
1) First and foremost, you need to take care of yourself
Many times I would try to jump into relationships, do things for others, and take on big tasks when I wasn't mentally or physically prepared to do so. For example, my junior year of high school I was badly depressed and couldn't think straight or make conscious decisions that would benefit me. Around that same time I decided to jump into a relationship with this guy, and it was a very terrible idea. the relationship was full of fighting, sadness, anger, and pain. I wasn't mentally ready for a relationship. Sometimes you have to work on yourself and take care of yourself before you do anything else. That way you are the best you can be and in a good place to achieve or take on the things that life has thrusted upon you.
2) With every negative, there's a positive
Dwelling on all the bad things in life was something I used to be so good at. I could always find something wrong with a situation, something negative about what was going on, yet I never asked myself "Is there a positive?". Its extremely important to try to find the positive side of every situation or task that you are enduring in life. you can do it, I promise there is something good. And if you can't think of something good, I know in the future you will because everything in life is a lesson and you can learn from whatever has happened.
3)Don't let others determine how you feel
Someone called you a name, talked behind your back, treated you with such disrespect. So why would you want to give them any power to shape the way you think or feel about yourself? Don't let anyone impact your life in a negative way. You are so much stronger and better then that. People can be cruel and mean, but don't give their opinion about you that much power. At the end of the day they may be dealing with some demons themselves.
These are just a few things that I have been learning recently in my life that have greatly impacted my though process. I hope that it helps someone that is maybe a little lost or down lately. It gets better; you and I are living proof of that. Your breathing, healthy, able to read something on the internet, you have so much ahead of you in life. No matter what happens, remember how strong you are. Look back on your life, look at all you've accomplished. YES making it through a tough situation is an acoomplishment. Wipe those tears, let it go, and stay strong.
love you all, Muah!
